Waiting For Kai: Three Years Old

Kai turned three a couple of weeks ago! Time is flying by and he is growing up so quickly. Birthday pictures will be in my next post because our camera is currently at the beach with Mark & Kai, who are visiting Grandpop & Bubbe. But here is a little update on what Kai is up to now that he's THREE!!!

He is totally silly. We call him our Goofy Gooferton or The Goof Goof McToof.
He still loves Thomas, and also Lightning McQueen and Bob the Builder. He wants to be Bob the Builder for Halloween.
He loves trucks -- dump trucks, steamrollers, bulldozers, excavators, cement mixers, trucks of any kind. We pass by a construction site on the way to school and he loves to predict which trucks will be working each day.
He likes to "read" his favorite stories to us by going through the pages and telling us the parts of the story that match up to the pictures.
Favorite books these days are the Pete the Cat books and the Thomas Railway Rhymes book he got from Grams & Maw-Maw for his birthday. He also loves Dr. Seuss One Fish Two Fish, Green Eggs & Ham, and the original Cat in the Hat.
It's embarrassing how well he knows Starbucks. He walks right in, grabs an applesauce or a juice and puts it on the counter. He knows to walk back to the "bar" to wait for mommy and daddy's drinks to be ready. At least he's not ordering a latte yet!
I think he's turning into a mini chocoholic.
He spent the summer going to "camp" (school) and had lots of fun learning about the rainforest, the ocean, the circus, and music. He saw a puppet show and a one man band. He had lots of fun getting muddy every week on "Water Wednesday" (although he still has absolutely no interest in actually getting into the kiddie pool). But I think his favorite part of summer school was playing cars every afternoon with his friends -- there were about 4 or 5 little boys that would play cars together at the end of each day. Kai would always talk about this at home, and the other parents said the same thing so I think it was a favorite time for all of them.
He attended his first Chuck E. Cheese birthday party last month. It took him a while to warm up to all the noise, screaming kids and over-stimulation, but eventually he got on a few rides and played some games. His favorite part, though, was definitely the pizza and cake, and the balloon he got to take home!
